I spent part of the day doing one of the less glamorous renovation jobs... counting boxes. 😂

Our first furniture deliveries finally showed up, so I was making sure everything we ordered actually made it here. Thankfully, no mystery missing boxes (at least not yet).

It’s exciting seeing the pieces that will eventually pull this building together start showing up!

We're finally starting to turn a corner. 🙌

This week brought exciting deliveries, extra helping hands, and a lot of progress behind the scenes. From running the network cables that will power our WiFi and security cameras to finishing the bathroom partitions and making progress on the floors, it finally feels like we're building instead of just tearing things apart.

Episode 17 is live! 🔨📚

This week was a big one as we started seeing more progress on the “building up” side of the renovation.

We had the first furniture pieces for the bookstore arrive, finished painting the bathroom partitions, and brought in some extra help to tackle one of the biggest behind-the-scenes projects yet: running the network cables for our WiFi and security cameras.

Having extra hands this week made a huge difference and helped us tackle some of the projects that have been taking longer than expected.

It’s exciting to finally feel like we’re moving beyond just tearing things apart and starting to see the pieces of the bookstore come together.

POV: You buy a 7,000-square-foot building and give yourself just 6 months to turn it into your dream bookstore. 😅

When we first got the keys, this place had been sitting untouched for years. Over the last 3.5 months, we've cleared out years of clutter, demolished flooring, removed bars, repaired drywall, started painting, and finally begun bringing our vision to life.

We're officially past the halfway point, and while there's still a lot of work ahead, it's exciting to see this old pub slowly becoming the bookstore we've been dreaming about.

A normal renovation update somehow turned into a surprise, a negotiation, and a handshake agreement 😂

The projects keep moving, the building keeps changing, and apparently I keep volunteering for more work.

I stopped by the store today to take a photo of our dumpster so I could give a HUGE shout out to my parents Ken Drewyor and Bett Drewyor for coming out yesterday to help me finish trashing out the storage rooms (Alicia from Rebel Pizza and Brews, LLC came by, too!!).

Unfortunately, I found that overnight, someone had dumped two mattresses and a bedframe into our dumpster.

My dad and I thoughtfully loaded the dumpster to leave enough room for the remaining furniture pieces that need to go, but as you can see, there's no longer room.

I'm disappointed that someone thought it was okay to take something (space) that they didn't pay for, but I'm not going to let it get me (or this post) down. We got an AMAZING amount done yesterday; it's a big weight off my shoulders to know that the largest task in this renovation will be done by the end of the week!!

Thanks again, Dad, Mom, and Alicia! You guys are fantastic!!

Taking out the trash has officially become part of our morning routine.

Getting frustrated with Joel's "we'll figure it out as we go" approach has become part of mine. 😅

Surprisingly, we usually get the job done... although my fingers don't always make it out unscathed.
