Joelā€™s favorite hobby is destroying things and seeing how close he can get to an injury without actually getting one. šŸ˜‚

At least heā€™s consistent.

Painting is underway! What should we do with the welcome sign in our entry?

Update the font and replace the shoes with beverage glasses and books?

Or something else?

Episode 24 is live!

We thought we were finally getting to the end of the demolition and trash phase, but somehow there was still more to clear out. This week, we emptied out the office and future event space, had a kitchen sale, and filled up yet another dumpster.

We also started tiling behind the first-floor bar and continued making progress throughout the building.

Hopefully, this is officially our last dumpster! šŸ¤žšŸ»

Thereā€™s been a LOT of stress, unexpected problems, and moments during this renovation where weā€™ve wondered what we were thinking. But having each other through all of it has made it so much more manageable.

Somehow, every task turns into a two-person job. Every little accomplishment gets a high five, every frustrating moment gets talked through, and every big project feels a little less overwhelming when weā€™re doing it together.

Itā€™s a lot of work, but getting to build this together makes it all worth it. šŸ¤

Someone has to keep the renovation moving while Joel has fun.

Unfortunately, that someone was me.

Episode 23 is live!

Weā€™re finally getting back into the groove after the fire. This week, we finished the menā€™s bathroom wallpaper, sanded the floors, picked out more paint colors, and got more furniture deliveries.

But then we got some pretty bad news about the smoke damageā€¦ and our original six-month deadline is officially being pushed back. šŸ˜¬

The sign arrived last week and we picked out exterior colors for the building. Here's hoping that the building will have a face lift in the next couple of weeks!

Four months of work in one minute!

This bathroom has been one of those projects where it feels like weā€™ve been working on it forever, but seeing everything come together makes all the sanding, repairs, repainting, and prep work worth it. And thankfully, I think we finally got the paint color right. šŸ˜‚

Still plenty more to do, but Iā€™m really happy with how itā€™s coming together. šŸ¤

Stay tuned for Thursday šŸ˜‰ The menā€™s bathroom wallpaper is officially up!

The one job in a renovation that is somehow both exciting and boring.

Iā€™m pretty sure taking out the trash has been one of our most consistent renovation projects.
