If you were wondering what I was doing with all those little pumpkins I posted a few weeks ago… here they are! 🎃🌸

I picked these pumpkins myself while I was home visiting my parents’ farm, brought them back, cured them, and then decorated each one by hand with flowers that I grew, harvested, and dried myself this season.

And if you love my fresh bouquets, these will last a whole lot longer. 😂 They’re all a little different, and no two turned out exactly the same.

I’ll have them with me at the Sayre Farmers Market at Howard Elmer Park by The SBA this Friday, September 18th! 🤍🍂

What’s going on at the farm you ask? Spring flowers! 🌸🤭
My greenhouse shelf is full of spring flower seedlings that will be planted out this week in the new row we prepared a couple weeks ago.
They will be protected with low tunnels over the winter and then next starting in April hopefully I’ll have LOTS of snapdragons, sweet William and few new players on the farm for you like… lady’s mantle, gorgeous foxglove and sweet Annie!
I’m also starting to get my seed orders in… about 2000 Lisianthus seeds 👀and a lot of Benary giant zinnias!

I just love seeing flowers I grew be a part of Franklin’s Small Town Flowers GORGEOUS arrangements. 🌸 Those dahlias and lisianthus started right here on my little flower farm, and now look at them. 💕 So thankful for the local support!

A little behind-the-scenes work happening on the flower farm this past weekend! 🌸

I’m getting beds cleaned up and ready for fall planting, and this year I’m trying something new — silage tarp! The goal is to smother out those weeds now so I’m not fighting quite so many of them next spring. Because if there’s one thing I’d happily grow less of… it’s weeds. 😂

I’m also making some changes around the farm to make things more efficient and create more growing space. Some of my fall seedlings will be planted out soon and overwintered under low tunnels so they can get established now and hopefully give me an earlier start on flowers next spring. Every season teaches me something new, and I’m always tweaking things to figure out how I can grow MORE flowers without creating more work for myself.

And don’t worry… I’m definitely not done with flowers yet! I’ll still have dahlia bouquets, and I’ve been busy working on dried flower pumpkins too! 🌸🎃 I’ll have both with me at the Sayre Farmers Market on September 18th, so make sure you come see me and get your flower fix! ❤️

A LOT got done around the flower farm this weekend! 🌸💕

We got a brand new 50-foot row ready for fall planting and overwintering… lots of campanula, foxglove, sweet Annie, snapdragons, sweet William and feverfew will be going in here for spring blooms! 😍

We also shoveled an entire truckload of mulch around all of my raised beds and peonies… my back & shoulders may never forgive me. 😂

And I even had a helper! Meet Grizzly. 🐾 His idea of helping is laying right in the freshly tilled dirt. 🫣😂

Next week I’ll be pulling all my summer annuals, spent sunflowers and cleaning up those beds so I can tarp them for winter after a good composting to keep the weeds out. That was my birthday present… a silage tarp. 🤭

It may still be summer, but around here I’m already working on next spring’s flowers! 🌱🌸
