KY Piano Service presents this STUNNING Essex(by Steinway) Baby Grand piano Model EGP-160, 5’3”, in SATIN BLACK finish with matching bench that was manufactured in Japan in 2001.

The person I purchased it from acquired this piano when it was nearly new in 2004, shortly after Essex was debuted by Steinway. At that time, Essex pianos were made in the Young-Chang Factory in Japan. This continued to be the standard, until Young Chang closed.
This model has a black satin case with Art Deco details, (such as the design of the music rack, and the lettering on the fall board). I purchased the piano from a professional pianist who’d had this piano for 21 years! He kept this piano in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition. It was tuned at least once per year, sometimes twice. It holds tune amazingly well and has a rich and deep sound that suggests a piano of at least 6 feet, which is due to its dove tail end being much wider than most other pianos in this size. It plays, sounds and looks AMAZING!!! It’s ready for your church, home or school. You simply cannot find these Essex pianos anywhere in this excellent condition anymore!
The Essex brand was among the first piano brands(other than Steinway) that Steinway had put out on the market. They were risking their undisputed reputation, so these pianos had to be manufactured with Quality being top priority..
Features:
- solid (not laminated), premium grade, straight grain spruce with a minimum of eight annual groceries per inch. The soundboard is tapered rather than uniformly thick to vibrate more freely and to provide more tonal volume and color. Soundboard ribs are spruce and fully let into a notched liner and the rim To support the soundboard crown and to prevent the piano from losing its tone quality.
- Pin block is hard maple, layered multi directionally, grips tuning pins from several directions to issue a tight fit uniform pressure and smoother tuning.
-Tuning pins are nickel plated, blued steel resist trust and enhances appearance cut threads create hundreds of teeth that grip the pin block and keep the piano in tune longer.
- the action is all wood, absolutely no plastic whatsoever, for proven durability and heightened responsiveness and control. It’s also equipped with angled whip and heel for faster repetition.
This instrument has been inspected, tuned, and thoroughly detailed AND it’s ready to be delivered to your home, church or school!! There is less than 5% hammer wear present in this piano action! It looks great and sounds amazing!!
