Yassas! Meet Dimitra who makes our wool slippers in Greece!
This meet the maker edition is all about her and her family company.
Dimitra and her family live in beautiful Greece. If you’ve been, you know what I’m talking about. If you haven’t, no worries! We’ll be sharing a lot of travel inspiration. So stay tuned!
Nafplio, the city they live in, is a coastal city on Greece’s biggest Peninsula, the Peloponnese. And yes, the beach and the sea look that white and that blue!
Dimitra is the lovely lady in the middle and the gentlemen in the corner photo is her father, who started the family company.
He’s the man who drove all around Greece in his little car to sell his mothers handmade wool slippers! Dimitri’s grandmother is the one who made the very first wool slippers based on the tsarouchi (the traditional shoes of the Greek Presidential Guard).
Visitors of her grandmother’s small souvenir shop liked them so much, her father decided to start a family company! Fascinating isn’t it?
I just love the stories of family companies. Don’t you?! Make sure to follow We’re going to share more precious stories of the local entrepreneurs we work with.
