Our YouTube channel passed 4,000 subscribers. Thank you, all of you. We started it in June and every view and comment since then has meant a lot to us.

The latest video is my first ride on Vesper, our new mustang mare, who came to us as Peach. We're her seventh home, so the video is us trying to figure out whether Vesper is a problem or just a mare who's been misunderstood for years. If you've had a horse come to you with that kind of history, I'd like to hear about it.

Link to the video is in the comments.

We went live the other night for a ranch catch-up: Peach and Pepper, how Eddy's healing, and what's next. Replay is on our YouTube channel if you want to catch it.

Crystal on Peach, a quiet evening ride before the week gets going.

We're still on our one-acre place for a few more weeks before the move to the new ranch, and now there are six horses here: Eddy, Lark, Sibley, Ivan, Pepper and Peach. We're not trainers, just figuring it out as we go, and the new video is the honest version of how we ended up with two instead of one.

Some of you have thoughts on Peach's name over on YouTube. We're reading them.

We went to buy Peach. We came home with Peach and Pepper.

That's me with both of them: Pepper on the left, Peach on the right. If you've ever gone to look at one animal and driven home with more, you know how that goes. The new video walks through the conversation that went from "maybe one more" to "we're doing two," and what we saw in each horse that made it make sense for us.

Six horses now. Full story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0jcHt8uDCo

We finally carved out a day that wasn’t just chores and house-sale stuff.
One-acre place is listed. Dad’s packing up next month. We’re in that weird little window before the 50-acre place becomes home. So we loaded Sibley and Ivan, grabbed the dogs, and headed for the sandy roads at the base of Shasta while the weather was still being decent.
Sibley’s only on her fourth real trail ride. She’s still green, still looking at every shadow and every dog that pops out of the brush. Ivan’s the old ranch horse who gets a little wound up on the trail but was surprisingly quiet today. I ended up walking her for a stretch while Crystal rode Ivan. Nobody’s pretending this is polished. It’s just miles.
That’s the whole point right now. We work hard to live this life, but if we don’t actually get on the horses and enjoy the journey, what’s the point of all the moving and planning?
New video is up if you want to ride along.
What’s one small thing you’re making time for this week even though life’s loud?
