So I seen the other day on TikTok a mother getting a tattoo to represent her autistic child. She got the word YET tattooed on her.
I’ve seen the puzzle pieces with all the color with it but never the word YET.
When people say:
He can’t talk
She can’t write
He can’t swim
She’s not potty trained
But an autism parent we see it as:
He can’t talk YET
She can’t write YET
He can’t swim YET
She’s not potty trained YET
This hit home for me. My son who is almost 4 is speech delayed. He will say a few things but they are far and few. But with the therapy and preschool he has come so far.
So Flint may not be talking YET but we never rule anything out with him. He surprises us daily on what he can do.
