I think being a Latina bookstore owner and knowing there are still kids growing up without seeing themselves in the books they read gives me rage.

Because our stories deserve shelf space.
Our authors deserve recognition.
And our communities deserve to see themselves as the heroes, dreamers, leaders, and main characters.

That’s why I started Raíces Books.

Not just to sell books—but to make sure our stories are seen, celebrated, and passed on to the next generation. 🤎📚

Building a business is the ultimate “vibe check.” It’s amazing how a shift in your path can suddenly clarify who is actually in your corner and who was just there for the convenience.
I had an eye-opening conversation with another Latino business owner recently. We both realized a surprising truth: often, the loudest cheers come from strangers, while the people you’ve known for years stay quiet.

💡 Why this happens:
• Strangers see your vision and value without bias.
• True friends celebrate your growth, even if they don’t fully understand the “how.”
• The rest? They liked the version of you that didn’t challenge their own status quo.

Don’t be discouraged by the silence of old friends. Instead, be fueled by the community you’re building right now. To everyone who has shared a post, bought a product, or sent a “keep going” text—thank you. You’re the reason we keep building.
