Believe it or not, people in the 1800s genuinely thought so!
This fascinating bust represents phrenology—a once-popular pseudoscience in which practitioners used their hands and calipers to "read" a person's character by examining the shape of their skull.

Phrenologists believed the brain contained more than 30 separate "organs" responsible for traits such as benevolence, combativeness, ambition, and even musical talent. According to the theory, the stronger a trait, the larger the corresponding area—and bump—on the skull.

While it may seem like a curious Victorian-era novelty today, phrenology also had a troubling legacy. Its claims were often used to promote scientific racism and justify discrimination.
