BULLSHARKS HAVE BEEN FREQUENT‼️ OUR TARGETED SPECIES this time of the year. Last night we hit the beach with the boys and successfully tagged and released this 7ft 7inch male bullshark. They named him "Gerald"

"REASONS WHY WE TARGET BULLSHARKS"

Bulls are an extremely hearty species with no prohibited species restrictions (except fork length regulations for harvest) - this allows us to take our time and get a true measurement for tagging - though we are a tag & release program for 99% of the sharks we catch (sometimes we keep blacktips or other smaller species of sharks) we still work fast with every step as we do with every shark we tag to ensure a healthy release and high survival rate. Dealing with bullsharks though let's everyone get up close and personal with these apex predators, giving us the best beach photo along with memories that last a lifetime. Legally you could harvest bullsharks but dragging a 8ft shark up the beach and into the back of a vehicle is no easy task. (sharks must remain in whole condion until you leave the area you were fishing ; gutting them is legally permitted per FWC) For these reasons we focus on tagging and releasing them ; someday we may get a ping back. Maybe Gerald will visit Texas for the Fall ? Who knows? The oceans are his oyster, forever to roam and wander. 🌎 🐚

Please remember that this apex predators call our waters home, conservation efforts have allowed their numbers to grow. This is a incredible win and proves that our ecosystem is thriving. With correct fishing practices and regulations put into effect, they have begun to replenish their population. Don't be scared, just be aware. We share the waters with all wildlife and must respect it πŸ™

Abby (the 9ft female greater hammerhead), Big Baddie (the 5ft female blacktip), Kinsley (the 10ft female tiger), Monkey (the 7ft male bull), and last but not least "Laser Blade" (the ferocious 6ft female tiger) -- yall sure do come up with some great names. I wonder what's next?

If you join us and if your shark ever gets recaught we can let you know how far it went, how much it grew, and how long it was at liberty. You never know where your fish might end up next.
