Grilled chicken with farm fresh basil pesto pasta, made with basil grown right here at Garden & Grace, is stocked and ready for our neighbors.

This is a big part of why we host workshops at the farm. When you register for a Garden & Grace workshop, you’re not just coming to learn, taste, and spend some time in the garden. Your support helps us keep growing, cooking, and sharing more of what we grow with our neighbors.

Garden & Grace is closed today for a private event as we proudly host the Petals of North Bridgedale Garden Club!

We’re excited to welcome fellow garden lovers to the farm for a day of growing, gathering, and sharing a little Garden & Grace hospitality.

We created a frog pond hoping to attract frogs and have had exactly ZERO frog activity.

Then we cleaned out ONE raised bed and found about TWENTY of these little guys tucked down in the soil. 😂

Apparently we didn’t need to attract frogs. We just needed to figure out where they were holding their meetings.

They’re more than welcome. Frogs are fantastic garden helpers, eating insects and other small invertebrates that would otherwise be snacking on our plants.

But seriously, fellas. We built you a whole pond. The least y’all could do is go look at it. 😂🐸🌱 🐸

Our first American wisteria blooms! 💜🌿

Our American wisteria, Wisteria frutescens, a beautiful Louisiana native, is officially blooming at Garden & Grace!

And these little purple blooms are doing more than making the garden pretty. American wisteria provides nectar for native bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators, helping us create a healthy, thriving ecosystem right here on our urban farm.

Bringing more pollinators into the garden means more visitors moving among our blueberries, basil, tomatoes, peppers, and other flowering plants. More pollinator activity supports better pollination, healthier plants, and ultimately more food for us to harvest and share with our community. 💜🐝🌱

It really can be this simple. Cook a little extra and serve a lot. 💚

I soaked a big pot of red beans and let them cook low and slow all day. We had red beans and rice for dinner at home, I froze some for my college kids, and there was still enough to pack up 12 meals for two to bring to the community fridge at 3016 St. Philip Street.

That is 24 servings from the same pot that fed my own family.

And y’all, when I got there, the fridge was empty.

Completely empty.

You do not have to start a nonprofit, grow an entire garden, or make some huge gesture to help feed your neighbors. If you are already cooking, make the pot a little bigger. Add another cup of beans. Make a little more rice. Pack up what you can and share it.

A little extra at our tables can mean dinner on someone else’s.

This is exactly what we mean at Garden & Grace when we say, We Give What We Grow. And sometimes, we give what we cook too. 💚

Here’s what’s happening around the farm this week!

🌱 TUESDAY | COMMUNITY HOURS
1:00–6:00 PM

Come wander the garden, see what’s growing, shop the farm stand, ask questions, or just stop by and say hello. We love having our neighbors visit!

🌸 THURSDAY | CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC

We’ll be hosting a private garden club meeting at the farm, so there will be no Community Hours this Thursday.

🍃 FRIDAY | SOW + SAVOR

Come experience the farm from garden to table!

We’ll take a guided stroll through the garden, talk about what we’re growing and how we use it, harvest a little along the way, and then settle in to taste dishes I’ve prepared using fresh ingredients and flavors inspired by the garden.

It’s part farm tour, part tasting experience, and a fun way to see just how much you can grow and enjoy, right in the middle of New Orleans.
