Not a toy related post at all, just me sharing something personal.
They say the last Chevy Malibu left the production line in November 2024. Chevy has shifted focus into their new Bolt EV.
I wanted to take a moment to show appreciation to the Malibu by sharing a picture and a few highlights of mine. She’s seen some things for sure, but what you don’t see often is a car put on that type of miles and keep on going. As of 1/31/25, I’m sitting at 399,943 miles. When I got this Malibu back in 2015, it had 188 miles on it. The rest of those miles are mine. From mundane things like a daily commute, to traveling the country for concerts, toy collections, wrestling events, vacations and comic cons, it’s always had my back. It’s been through multiple hurricanes and most recently an unprecedented snow storm, (hence the Snowmega photo) and keeps on going. By Monday she’ll probably hit 400,000 and I plan to record it live and share it with you all.
People laugh when I tell them the next vehicle I have my eyes on is a Traverse. “Why Chevy?” “Chevys are awful vehicles.” “You could get something so much better than a Chevy.”
My first car, Chevy Cavalier. The day after I bought it, I moved to Arizona. And it allowed me the ability to provide for myself and my brother.
My second car, a Chevy HHR. It survived Katrina, took me to the Gathering of the Juggalos twice, and was a fun ride driving up and down the mountains of Tennesee.
My third car, a Chevy Trailblazer. This SUV moved me back and forth to Virginia, and carried me through starting my current career.
And then the Malibu, which has served me going on 10 years. So when you ask why Chevy? Because those vehicles and been with me through every important part of my adult life, and many of them were possible through those vehicles.
Here’s to my Chevy, and all the great Chevys on the road and in the world. May they continue to make the miles we travel meaningful and magical.
