Pacific North West Ballet delivered a lovely show at the Koch this evening. Pitch perfect acting, costume design, and stage craft, on top of the brilliant dancing. Doesn’t get better than Pite, Tharp, and Cerrudo while disco vibes abound by the fountain.

Wide platform Vs Narrow Platform?

Summer intensives, when the work load is heavy, can be a brilliant time for a wider platform. You can also alternate between a wider and a smaller platform during your intensive. When you are feeling tired towards the end of the day or later in the week, a wider platform can help you prevent injury. They can also be a smashing choice for rehabing from an injury. If you are looking to develop more strength, engage your intrinsic muscles even more than you already do, and have more control of your turns, a smaller platform can be very effective. They’re excellent to use when you are feeling fresh. For safe transition to a smaller platform, stay at the barre until you feel the wobbles dissipate. As you get stronger they absolutely will. Slowly start to practice in the center in your smaller platform shoes when you feel ready, then turn, turn, turn!🧚‍♂️🧚‍♂️🧚‍♂️

Audition season is here! Such an exciting (and potentially nerve wracking!) time. Everyone wants to do their very best. One thing you can do to cut down on anxiety is to check your batch numbers!

If you are buying shoes from online dance super stores, you don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars for paste that is old. Old paste means your shoes will be softer before you’ve even had a chance to wear them. Ask retailers if they can tell you your batch number before they ship your shoes so you can avoid the cost of returns. Also, you won’t have to panic that you dont have the shoes you need to land the spot you’re hoping for!

Batch numbers are found on stickers on your pointe shoe bag or box.
