In the United States, an estimated 6,400 metric tons of silver were consumed in 2022, with apparent consumption fluctuating somewhat over the years. Currently, around 600 million ounces of silver are mined each year, while industry consumes about 870 million ounces. Globally, total silver demand achieved its highest level since 2015, surging 19 percent to 1.05 billion ounces last year, with an all-time high for silver’s use in industrial applications
