3 new parts today! Were announcing the first spare knuckle holders including a highly detailed, separate knuckle.

First up is the truck mounted box style spare knuckle holder used by DRGW, late era SP and subsequent owners. Includes 4 boxes and 4 separate knuckles.

Second, is the basic EMD style. This set includes both left and right mounts (distinguished by how the keeper latch faces, usually the latch part is out), angled or rounded edges, as well as the option for having a knuckle or no knuckle.

Here's another coming soon part, one of several styles/generations of class lights. This specific one is an EMD screw mount style, which screwed into the nose and did not use the retaining gasket around the edge. I do not have a list of every single user of this style, but SP, ATSF, MP and Amtrak are some.

Great shot by Charles Lange of Southern Pacific SD9E 4356. SP was a huge user of both Mars and Pyle lighting products, and by the time the SD9E's were getting rebuilt, they started to get scattered around and mismatched, however 4356 here still has its original, full Mars lighting package, all of which we offer.

All of these are in two packs, setup for 0402 LED's and include the lenses.

This photo also highlights a neat aspect - While Mars and Pyle used the same Kopp glass lenses, the Mar's are externally gasket mounted, however the Pyle's are clip mounted from the inside. the Mars UDE however, did use a larger diameter lens, unlike the Pyle UDE.

All these parts were drawn using original Mar's drawings, or data right off the prototype! (My Mars SBW-2-301 is sitting right next to me as I type this..). Thanks to David Lange for sharing this great shot!

New Part! Pyle UDE Gyralite's

Also marketed as the 17540 and 17570 (depending on the prototypes rear conduit location/bulb size), this Gyralite was more often then not used as an undesired emergency warning light (UDE). Southern Pacific was by far the largest user of them. This light was also used as a marker light on the rear end of passenger cars. Our light has all the details of the prototype including the finned cover and thumb screw detail. Setup to use 0402 LED’s (not included). Includes two lights plus clear lenses.

We still have a bunch more lights in progress!

And now for something different: My newest book is here!

Industry City, The Last Vestige of Industrial Railroading in New York City. Volume 1 covers the New York Dock Railway and Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal.

This series is going to be covering the last bits of industrial railroading in New York City, focusing on the era just before the formation of Conrail, through the late 1990's. Conrail's formation had a severe negative impact on shortlines, and one of the hardest hit was the NYD/BEDT operations, directly leading to their downfall. Along the way, the famed New York Dock labor agreement was formed, which is explained in the book, along with some highly detailed, era appropriate maps, tons of never before seen photos and documents and more.

Little sneak peek at something we are working on. Modeling NY City in 1981, I need roll off trucks. They were everywhere. While there have been some great dumpsters made over the years, nobody has ever made a proper roll off hoist. So, I am.

This is loosely patterned off a Galbreath AH60 hoist. This is a "me" project, so I do not know what will be included when I do eventually list them, but I have parts drawn for the frames, raised and lowered cylinders, bumpers, tool box, hydraulic tank, etc. I do have 3 different dumpsters drawn too.

This is just a very early test print. The Mack DM600 body and tires are Ralph Ratcliff items. (No, I am not doing truck bodies, I leave that to others).

One of my favorite parts of the St. Louis announcement's are the EMD Roots blowers. Used for exhaust scavenging on the engines, they are relatively unchanged from the time the 567 was introduced in 1938, through the end of 645E production. Our blower set comes with 2 pairs, in correct left and right drive shaft orientations. They have full internal lobe detail, as well as end case detail. This is kind of a mid-production case style (typical EMD, there's about 10 different rib patterns). This is another part that will be included in our fully detailed and componentized 567 kit in development that I hope to release this fall.
