What does your face say before you do?

Love Your Face II came from looking in the mirror and thinking about the days when we don’t like what we see. Happiness can show up there. So can loss, insecurity, and everything we’ve tried to quiet down.

I made this work from a simple position: whatever your face has been through, love your face.

One of one. High-gloss aluminum. 24 × 36 inches.

People see my work and recognize the black, the white, the contrast, the faces. What they may not realize is that I don't turn that aesthetic on when I'm creating something for Milton Wes Art.
I live with it.

My home has always been about contrast, texture, mood and creating a space that feels like me. The artwork isn't something I added to decorate the room. It belongs here because the same eye that created the room created the work.

I think that's part of being an artist that people don't always get to see. Your point of view doesn't necessarily end when you stop working. Sometimes you look around and realize you've been living inside it the entire time.
