As a kid I grew up reading all types of comic books, from Marvel's X-men, Spider-man, Avengers to DC's Batman, Superman, Justice League, just to name a few. Now, as an adult my passion for comics will always be a part of who I am, which is why Superheroes Ultimate was born. 💔 The anime industry has lost a veteran creator.
Japanese director and animator Yūji Yanase has died at the age of 59 after suffering an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) on August 22.
His passing was announced by the official website for The Insipid Prince's Furtive Grab for The Throne, the series Yanase was directing this season.
But his contributions to anime stretch back nearly four decades.
And there's a VERY good chance you've watched something he helped bring to life.

Yanase began working in anime by at least 1988, contributing as an in-between animator before building a career as a key animator, animation director, episode director and eventually series director.
He made his directorial debut with Himegoto in 2014 and went on to direct numerous fantasy and isekai series over the following decade.
Even while directing entire productions, he continued working directly in animation.

Behind every anime we love are artists, animators and directors whose names may not always appear on posters...
but whose work is literally in every frame.
Nearly four decades helping bring stories to life.

💔 “Be strong enough to be gentle.”
The voice of a generation has gone silent.
Peter Cullen, the legendary voice actor who brought Optimus Prime to life for more than four decades, has died at the age of 85.
Cullen passed away August 26 at his Los Angeles home, surrounded by his family, according to a statement from his family.
For millions of us, Peter Cullen wasn't simply a voice of Optimus Prime.
He WAS Optimus Prime. 🤖❤️
Beginning with The Transformers animated series in the 1980s, Cullen gave the Autobot leader that unmistakable combination of strength, authority, compassion and dignity.
And there was a very real reason Optimus sounded that way.
Cullen based the voice and personality on his older brother Larry, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Vietnam.
His brother's advice before the audition became legendary:
“Peter, don't be a Hollywood hero. Be a real hero. Real heroes don't yell and act tough; they're tough enough to be gentle.”
And from that came one of the most iconic voices in pop-culture history.
“Autobots... ROLL OUT!” 🔥
When Transformers returned to theaters in 2007, Cullen returned with it, introducing an entirely new generation to Optimus Prime and continuing the role across films, animation and video games.
But his incredible career went far beyond Cybertron.

That's one hell of a legacy to leave behind. ❤️

💔 Another absolute legend has left us.
Tim Curry, the unmistakable actor, singer and voice performer whose career spanned more than half a century, has died at 80 years old. 🕊️
His longtime manager confirmed that Curry died peacefully at his Los Angeles home. A cause of death has not yet been announced. Curry had lived with health complications following a severe stroke in 2012.
For generations of fans, Tim Curry wasn't defined by just ONE iconic character...
💋 Dr. Frank-N-Furter — The Rocky Horror Picture Show
🎈 Pennywise — Stephen King's IT
🔎 Wadsworth — Clue
😈 Darkness — Legend
🏨 Mr. Hector — Home Alone 2

And then there was an enormous career across Broadway, television, animation, video games and voice acting.
Few performers could be absolutely terrifying in one role, hysterically funny in another, completely theatrical in the next...
…and somehow make every single one unmistakably Tim Curry.
His performance as Dr. Frank-N-Furter helped turn The Rocky Horror Picture Show from an initial box-office disappointment into one of the greatest cult phenomena in movie history.
His Pennywise gave an entire generation a very reasonable fear of storm drains. 🎈😳
And Clue?
One of the greatest comedic performances in a cult movie. Period.
Curry suffered a major stroke in 2012 that left him using a wheelchair, but he continued working and appearing for fans in the years that followed.
More than 50 years of unforgettable characters.
The movies will remain.
The performances will remain.
And every midnight screening where an audience gets up and does the Time Warp again will keep a little piece of Tim Curry's legacy alive. ❤️

Dolly Parton, the legendary singer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist known around the world as the Queen of Country Music, has died at the age of 80. 🕊️

Her family announced that Dolly died peacefully today in Nashville. A cause of death has not been released.

It's difficult to put into words just how enormous her legacy is.

But Dolly Parton was so much more than the songs.

She was an actress, businesswoman, author, philanthropist and songwriter whose career stretched across seven decades and whose music crossed generations and genres. She sold more than 100 million records and wrote thousands of songs throughout her extraordinary career.

And perhaps one of the most beautiful parts of her legacy had nothing to do with a stage.
📚 Through Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, she helped put hundreds of millions of books into the hands of children around the world.

She came from a family of 12 children in rural Tennessee and somehow went from those humble beginnings to becoming one of the most recognizable and beloved entertainers on the planet.

And through all of it, she never seemed to lose the humor, warmth and personality that made people feel like they knew her.
80 years of life.
Seven decades of music.
Generations of people inspired.
One absolutely unforgettable Dolly. ❤️

Her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, passed away last year in 2025.

Rest peacefully, Dolly Parton. 🕊️

⚔️ “BOY...” We can officially say it now.
DAVE BAUTISTA IS KRATOS. 🔥🔴
After previously being reported as in talks, Bautista is now officially set to take over the role of Kratos in Prime Video's live-action God of War series following Ryan Hurst's departure after suffering an on-set injury.
And this isn't some small adaptation...
🔥 Prime Video has ordered TWO SEASONS, with both planned to shoot back-to-back.
The series will adapt the story of the two most recent God of War games, following Kratos and his young son Atreus as they journey to spread Faye's ashes while battling their way through the gods and monsters of Norse mythology.
And Bautista is walking into an already STACKED cast:

2018's God of War isn't just about a guy brutally murdering gods.
It's about a father desperately trying to make sure his son doesn't become the man he once was.

💔 Absolutely heartbreaking news. Hayden Panettiere has died at just 36 years old.
Her representative confirmed her passing Sunday, remembering Hayden as an incredible light who brought joy to those who knew her and the millions who watched her throughout her career. At this time, a cause of death has not been announced.

For an entire generation, Hayden was Claire Bennet on Heroes, the indestructible cheerleader at the center of one of television's most unforgettable taglines:
“Save the cheerleader. Save the world.”

But her career reached far beyond Heroes.

Just putting those two names in the same sentence is ridiculous. 😂🔥

The story begins when a reality-shattering spell causes Earth's Mightiest Heroes to witness the events of A New Hope unfolding on Earth, bringing the heroes AND villains of both universes crashing together.

And having Kevin Smith write this makes it even better. He's a lifelong fan who literally grew up reading Marvel's Star Wars comics and has said he used to wish Spider-Man or Doctor Doom could somehow cross into that galaxy.

Decades later...
HE GETS TO WRITE IT. 🙌
That's freaking awesome.

Issue #1 arrives January 2027, with the five-part event running through May.

👓 The X-Men roster is starting to take shape...

According to reports, Kit Connor (Deadline, Heartstopper, Warfare) is Marvel Studios' top choice to play Scott Summers / Cyclops in the upcoming X-Men reboot.

If the deal comes together, Connor would become the latest actor to wear the iconic ruby quartz visor, following James Marsden and Tye Sheridan.

Cyclops isn't just another mutant...

He's the field leader of the X-Men, Professor X's first student, and one of Marvel's most important heroes. Getting this casting right is a HUGE deal.

With reports already pointing to Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, the next generation of mutants is beginning to take shape... and it's getting exciting.

🕷️ It's official... Sony has hit the brakes on its Spider-Man spinoff universe.

After years of speculation, Sony Pictures CEO Tom Rothman confirmed that there are currently NO Spider-Man spinoff movies in active development.

That means, for now...

❌ Morbius ❌ Madame Web ❌ Kraven the Hunter ❌ No sequels. ❌ No new live-action spinoffs in development.

Rothman admitted the audience simply "wasn't satisfied enough," and acknowledged that those films failed to connect the way Sony had hoped.

Meanwhile...

🕷️ Spider-Man: Brand New Day is rewriting the record books, proving one thing:

Fans don't just want Spider-Man... they want GREAT Spider-Man stories.

The good news?

🎬 Sony says the animated Venom project is still moving forward, and of course, Spider-Man himself isn't going anywhere.
