Walmart-Free NYC is a labor-community coalition, made up of concerned workers and residents, clergy leaders, small business owners, elected officials, and community groups across the city, that are committed to increasing economic opportunity, preserving local business, and bringing more and better jobs to neighborhoods across the five boroughs. Because we
believe that our communities deserve better than Walmart and its harmful business model, the coalition works proactively to promote responsible development and high road retail (retail offering living wages and benefits, job training and advancement, stable and reliable schedules, and respecting the rights of its workers to organize for better conditions)... throughout the city. NYC thrives because of the diversity of our businesses and retailers, offering jobs and opportunity (and local tax dollars!) to our communities. Walmart and its business model does the exact opposite, and we say no! Join us in pushing back against the "race to the bottom" that Walmart - and all the low-road employers following its lead - are driving.
