As the The Female Founder Collective makes an effort to highlight Black women owned businesses, I’m glad to be amongst so many other brilliant Black woman leaders that are creating and building amazing things! I built this brand on the necessity of increased inclusivity, and that is something I remain committed to. 💯💯💯
“Above all we believe in empowering people to be their most true, healthy, authentic selves. Creating highly functional silk lined hats that protect and promote healthy hair is an innovative extension of that, one which the fashion and haircare industries desperately needed.
Fashion often does not prioritize the functional needs of everyone, making design inclusivity an option and not a necessity. Hats in particular are typically made without linings these days, leaving our hair vulnerable to the raw texture of a hat’s material which causes hair breakage, shedding, frizz, moisture loss, and all around damage. For people with coarse and curly hair, the damage is significantly worse.
Each of our hats feature high quality, smooth, silk linings that are removable, washable, and maintain hair health. I invented this design because it's something I needed and could never find - high quality, good for my hair, stylish, and convenient to care for!
I receive emails and messages from people sharing how grateful and excited they are about what I've created, and I'm so humbled that they appreciate the ingenuity and our hats are making a difference in their lives.
We're just getting started on this journey, and to know that my innovation is shaking up the industry and showing people that we don't have to settle for mediocrity is something I'm super proud of, and I hope to inspire others to do the same.” X, Charis
