Drone Innovation: MIT's AeroAstro labs is currently designing a drone that will be able to travel at speeds up to Mach 0.8, or roughly 614 mph. Labeled the "Firefly", the drone will essentially mimic a mini-rocket. It will be very interesting to see just how far drone technology can go...

Always nice to see drones taking a role in education. In this video we see two classes at the University of Nevada, Reno spending the afternoon getting hands-on experience flying drones as a vehicle for research. Do you think its important to have more classes that center around drone learning and training?

Did you hear? Dutch artists Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta, heads of Amsterdam-based Studio Drift, have partnered with car company BMW to bring a drone-based performance piece to Art Basel in Miami Beach. The drone display is being dubbed as one of the 1st of its kind. Should be like the Lady Gaga Super Bowl drone art feature but even better!

Drone Laws: The UK government is drafting new laws to monitor the use of drones. Under the recommended legislation, drone owners may be required to take safety awareness tests. The UK Drone Bill also gives the police the authority to seize drones caught being used in criminal activity. Drone innovation never seems to amaze us and its impressive to see a team of scientists and drone experts in Xiangyang, China using flame-throwing drones to clear debris from high voltage power lines. Not only does this reduce the risk of human life but really shows the power of Unmanned Ariel Vehicles (UAV) to solve unique problems?
