This might be one of our favorite projects ever. Whenever I facilitate community events, I aim to make the activities as accessible and inclusive as possible so everyone can participate. It was so cool to watch what happened when we simply provided materials and the structure. Open ended play and experimentation impact self-efficacy, confidence and connectedness. Activities like this are about so much more than just making something. I’m excited to get this into more spaces like schools, libraries, and events and watch the magic happen.

What if during a bridal shower, you got to make something for the bride to keep forever? A collection of squares made by those that love her the most, all while chatting and enjoying their time together. That’s what we do. We help make memories that last far beyond your day of celebration.

Everything is going to be okayšŸ™Œ

I’ve been managing a ton of change this year behind the scenes, and throughout it, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I show up. Like many women in their 30s/40s, I finally learned about my own neurodivergence this past year, after always feeling an inner sense of difference. The effort that it takes to mask, perform, and show up as bright and positive takes a toll, often leaving me feeling drained, exhausted and burnt out. I had a nagging feeling that I needed to try to visually represent this, as I know I’m not alone in this. So I recently started making some soft sculptures along this theme.

I titled this piece ā€œThe Cost of Radianceā€ because while I love to show up in a positive way for others, there is a hidden cost to that effort. I’m learning how to manage my energy, and it’s definitely helping— and everything is going to be okay.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to know šŸ’•

I’m working on something new and very different! I’ve loved learning sculpted bucket head techniques over the past year, and I recently had the idea to apply those techniques to some soft sculptures that I’ve been wanting to make. I have a few pieces currently in the works, and I’m so excited (and also very nervous) to share more about this work. The whole series is based on the lived experience of constant performance and masking, which takes such a significant toll internally. Stay tuned for more!
