Happy Camper’s mission is to raise awareness of an improved tool in the fight against mosquito-borne viruses like Zika, Dengue Fever, Malaria and others. Bed nets are the #1 tool, breaking the transmission cycle by preventing the infected mosquito from biting new people. Billions of dollars, and millions of bed nets are donated each year to fight against malaria. The current bed net design is over
10 years old. It is so difficult to use that people stop using them after a few nights. They're often converted into fishing nets, tablecloths, ties for animals, etc. This does no good against malaria. Anti-malaria organizations insist the current design is effective and have distributed almost 600 million bed nets over the past ten years! But they estimate they have saved fewer than 1 million lives in total -- which includes their expenditures for expensive vaccination programs and the internal spraying of houses! Something is not right --- it is the unusable design of the current bed net. I've invented tents for 20 years and have several patents in this field. The Buzzkill bed net has 14 advantages over the current design: it is simpler to use, harder to destroy, faster to erect, easier to store, easier to understand, lighter to carry and smaller: in a word, convenient. The Buzzkill bed net uses safe, slow-release (5 years of mosquito kill) insecticide - the same as the current design. The largest tent maker in the world produces the Buzzkill design. For five years the anti-malaria foundations stonewalled my efforts to introduce the Buzzkill bed net. Therefore I am raising funds to purchase and donate 10,000 newly-designed Buzzkill bed nets to malaria-infested villages in Kenya and Rwanda. We will conduct follow-up field tests with World Health Organization-approved survey teams to ascertain if the new design is better at protecting against malaria than the current design. If user tests prove the Buzzkill design is better, I will take these findings to the major anti-malaria organizations and convince them to implement the improved structure.
