I used to do a lot of large batch canning. Now I’m doing smaller batches and various sizes.
I think in part because we went from 6 to 3 at home and partly because I’m trying new recipes.

My typical batches now seem to run 2 jars (blackberries) to 8 (yellow beans).

What are your “normal” canning batch sizes?

7 hours riding and driving put me behind in my plans, but I picked these once I got home, now we’re going to can.
I’m starting with the pressure canner just in case I can’t do it all, water bath will be easier after the day job tomorrow.

Apple Season, the Lazy (Delicious) Way

September means our counters disappear under apples: ours, the neighbor's overflow, whatever's on sale at the stand down the road, and the ones I forage. I used to feel obligated to bake and freeze all of them. These days I do something better: I let the crockpot do the work.
