To the vast community of musicians of all ages and levels that we serve, you may have heard last week the announcement of a proposed 25% tariff on all brass-wind musical instruments and related parts and accessories. This would be disastrous on our community that is still reeling from from prior tariffs, which in addition to significantly raised costs have already led to a 27% decline in musical instruments in the last 18 months. Most affected by this new tariff will be school music programs and students. Following is a statement from NAMM president and CEO, John Mlynczak. The Music Wagon is a member of NAMM.

We urge you to use your voice and contact your Senators and Members of Congress to oppose this disastrous proposal. "There is absolutely no national security risk with musical instruments, and in fact, the opposite is true. Music making has been one of the most culturally uniting activities for thousands of years."

The Bureau of Industry and Security's (BIS) notice proposing the inclusion brass-wind musical instruments and their parts and accessories within the scope of Section 232 duties on steel, aluminum and copper derivative articles will further harm the American businesses, musicians and children.

Founded by a music educator, The Music Wagon is focused on musical learning and spreading the joys and benefits of music making. Bringing aboard Pamela Ryan-Landry as our flute instructor was a very smart decision because she is talented, a gifted educator and dedicated to inspiring the next generation within the musical arts. We are beyond thrilled that she brought her annual summer flute choir (of 31 years) to residence at The Music Wagon. Tonight, August 11th, was the culminating performance, which was nothing less than exceptional! Special thanks to Karen Testa, Executive Director, and her staff at the North Attleborough Senior Center, Friends of North Attleboro Council on Aging for graciously hosting this performance in the new senior center at 451 Elm St. Great things can happen when citizens, local businesses and community organizations partner together! themusicwagon.com

As we approach our upcoming summer Flute Choir Concert, we hear from Pamela Ryan-Landry , director and flute educator! Get a glimpse of some of the intense rehearsing that has been happening in the store this summer! The Flute Choir will perform at the North Attleborough Senior Center, 451 Elm St. at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 11th.
