I’ve become convinced that pigment paint mixing is an art form in itself. For my drip pour paintings, it requires so much liquid that it’s easiest to make my own paint from pigment and mica powders. Plus I have those on hand already for soapmaking. These ones took about 4 hours to make. I stir, very very slowly, the powder first into water, then with thick gloss medium, then thin. And then a lot of back and forth to get the balance just right without bubbles or powder pockets. It’s the most relaxing thing to watch tv or listen to music while slowly churning my pigments.

Impulsivity gets me into some situations 😂. I’ve got a full flat of random plants (cilantro, carrots, spinach). They’re planted in old light fixture shades 😂. I’ll be repotting them later once I see which survive. It’s not something I can resell, but more just an experiment to see what happens. As with most of my life ❤️

This 70s Forecast Lighting light fixture is so cool, I love looking at it. It took months to find the right parts but it was worth it. (I’ve prob posted about it before, I got it at the for $20.) It’s actually a brushed bronze with polished brass accents, but the outline in the light here just looked amazing. Those light shades are a secret unless you ask but they cost $7.50 total. 😉
