Day 5 in the CCU… What a crazy journey this has been. ❤️
This is the first time I’ve been on Facebook, and I am completely overwhelmed by the amount of love, prayers, and support. I truly have no words. Thank you all so much for every prayer, message, and act of kindness.
First and foremost, I am so incredibly grateful to be alive. I don’t think I’ll ever take life for granted again. God has kept me here for a reason, and I truly believe my purpose is going to be greater than ever.
I’m sorry I haven’t responded to texts or messages. It takes an incredible amount of focus and strength just to hold my phone, much less use it, so please know it’s nothing personal.
For those asking for an update…
For over a week, I had unbearable shoulder pain. I went to the ER four different times, saw a chiropractor, and went to Airrosti. Time after time I was told it was likely a rotator cuff tear and to wait for orthopedics. Every ER visit ended with me being sent home because they said there wasn’t anything they could do.
By Monday, I didn’t even have enough strength to walk into the orthopedic office. I had to be wheeled in, and the nurse looked at me and said, “Honey… you’re sick. Go straight to the ER and demand labs.”
I did exactly that.
After a CT scan, they came in and told me I had double pneumonia, was septic, and needed to be admitted to the CCU immediately.
My first thought was, “But what about my shoulder?” I had no idea just how sick I really was.
Thankfully, my white blood cell count is slowly improving, and my lungs are getting a little better each day.
The shoulder is still the big mystery. My MRI showed multiple abscesses throughout the front and back of my shoulder blade (scapula), which explains the unbearable pain. Yesterday they used a large needle to drain one of the abscesses so they can determine exactly what’s causing it. One of the doctors is recommending surgery to open the area and thoroughly clean it out, so we’ll be making that decision today.
Please pray that the doctors are able to identify exactly what this infection is, stop it from spreading, and completely clear it.
I cannot say enough about the incredible team caring for me. The intensivist, cardiologist, orthopedic surgeon, and infectious disease doctors have all been working so closely together, and I am beyond thankful for each of them. The nurses here as well have all been top notch!!! Very blessed!!

I’m still asking for no visitors right now. It hurts to breathe, talking wears me out quickly, and my heart rate is already sitting so high we can’t elevate it more.
