RIP Loud Lisa #99
You will be greatly missed! 😭💛
This past weekend, we mourned the loss of one of OKVD’s own, Lisa Ann Vaughan, a.k.a. LOUD LISA 99.
Lisa transferred to OKVD in spring of this year before playing in (and winning!) her first game with us as a member of Battle Squad in July.
But that game was by no means her first. Ever since her debut with Stillwater Roller Derby in 2008, Lisa had been a staple of the Oklahoma derby scene. And she was impossible to miss. Boisterous, friendly, and good-natured, Lisa always seemed to be having the time of her life on eight wheels and a flat track, striking up conversations with everyone and anyone, and smiling. Always smiling.
At the end of the day, she had an unquenchable passion for this sport. She might even have been roller derby’s biggest fan. At least, she seemed to understand, and embody, its capacity for empowerment, inclusivity, and diversity.
In Lisa’s words: “You are never too old, too skinny, too big, too tall, too short, too anything for roller derby.”
Rest in peace, Doll.
