I can’t decide how I feel about this lot. How about you? Meh, or do they give you all the feels?

I continue to experiment with image transfer and this lot required a two print process.

As I experiment and play, I gather tips and tricks to share in a future video so a tay tuned for that.

Continued experimentation with gel print image transfer. The purple session for those that requested it. Swipe for the acrylic paint.

I will digitize these for Gel Printables. A Carmine set is already digitized, but they are printing purple instead of red. 🙄 It will take some backend editing to get the colors right before release.

Let me know if you have any other color palette suggestions.

Did you ever notice blueberries have a mottled appearance?

They have areas of bright blue, indigo, a chalky white hue, and sometimes a reddish purple.

To achieve an effortless mottled appearance, try using granulating watercolors.

Rough watercolor paper like this Saunders Waterford High White Rough encourages granulation allowing paint to settle and float in the nooks and crannies.

It can be challenging to stamp on rough paper. Tips: use a stamp positioner and light ink for a no line watercolor technique. Light inks are more forgiving. Leave the stamp in the MISTI and stamp again after painting to reinforce details.

I used a stamp block, so you can see some double lines.

When you have a gel print session that knocks your freakin’ socks off…

and then you realize you didn’t film it 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄🤣 They turned out so well (unedited photo) I couldn’t be mad at myself.

Because creating for yourself, experimenting, and learning a new technique is massively rewarding.

In this session I tried image transfer for the first time. Amazing technique!! I will definitely do a video on this.

When I started Copic coloring one of the most difficult things for me to learn was shadows.

I never knew where to shade, how much shadow to add, or how much white to retain for highlights.

Often, I didn't use a wide enough range of color. The darkest markers were intimidating and I was afraid of making a mistake and ruining the card.

But, I saw a huge difference and my confidence grew when I started to use a reference photo. Observing the highlights, shadow, and color gave me confidence to use dark markers and lay down shadows where they needed to be.

I know lots of beginners who don't have time to find a reference photo or can't find one that's right for the stamp set.

💡The idea for my Photo Florals stamp line bloomed out of my experience. I illustrate stamps based on a reference photo and provide that photo reference to aid your coloring.

The stamps are hand-drawn, so they don't match the photo exactly. But, they're close enough for you to tackle the shadows and highlights.

Curious what Breathe · Ink · Inspire means? I thought I’d share the history of my tagline with you all.

I am a wife and mother of three daughters, ages 11, 9, and 8. The girls and our 1-year-old Swedish Vallhund, Kirin, certainly keep me busy, and in my spare time, I love to create. My passions are cards and Zentangle®. In fact, it was Zentangle® that got me into cardmaking.

I came upon the Zentangle® method of drawing in 2015 when my health was at an all-time low. I presented with multi-systemic symptoms which appeared to be unrelated. It was extremely difficult to complete normal activities of daily living, much less raise 3 small children and manage 5 Clinical centers.

After doing a ton of research on my own and seeing 9 doctors, I was finally diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis when I was at the peak of my worst flare. I remember thinking, I should not be this relieved to get a diagnosis with no cure. However, it was a relief to have validation that I wasn’t crazy and it wasn't lack of exercise or wear and tear, three things I heard often from doctors.

One of the most challenging symptoms to manage was cycling through manic periods of productivity and insomnia when my thyroid was being attacked and extreme fatigue and intolerance to just about everything when the thyroid hormones were depleted. This was when I found Zentangle®.

The Zentangle® method of drawing quite literally saved me. It allowed me to organize the chaos in my brain by centering and focusing on repetitive patterns that I didn’t need to think about drawing. It gave me the peace I needed and helped me heal.

I was so inspired by other Zentangle® artists and thankful for how it impacted my life that I became a Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) in 2017. I started sharing my work with family, friends, and eventually on Instagram. It was then that my friend Amy asked me to make a set of Zentangle® Christmas cards for her.

I’d never made a card so I did what any self-respecting crafter would do, I turned to Youtube and was blown away! I was hooked and I’ve been making cards ever since that first set in August 2017. I absorbed all the knowledge I could and spent more than I’d like to admit on supplies!

I noticed that I had the same sense of calm while creating cards and when I would combine the two, cardmaking and Zentangle® it was like magic. So I started a blog and Youtube channel, became a Certified Altenew Educator, and opened an LLC in order to teach and inspire others.

I chose “Notable Ink” as a play on words. Notable alludes to notecards and of course, I hoped my artwork would be remarkable, memorable. Ink is the main ingredient for both Zentangle® and cardmaking.

So what does Breathe · Ink · Inspire mean to me? Well, nothing calms me like Zentangle® and cardmaking. It puts me into a meditative state, slows my breathing, heart rate, and calms my mind. Breathing is the mainstay of meditation, so we have “Breathe”.

“Ink”, is used as a verb to signify making cards and tangling. And as for “Inspire” it’s what I love to do. I am a Nurse, and though I don’t practice or do clinical training anymore, I have always loved sharing knowledge and empowering others to learn and use that knowledge.
