I'm the person behind Basically Wicked Candle Co.—and yes, basically everything you see here starts somewhere in my slightly overactive imagination. 😂

I love creating fragrances that feel like more than just something that smells good.

I want them to remind you of a place you've been, a memory you love, a season you wish would last longer or just make an ordinary night at home feel a little more special.

Basically Wicked has changed and grown a LOT over the years, and bringing it with me to Florida has felt a little like starting a whole new chapter. 💜

So if you've been here forever—thank you.

And if you're new around here—I'm really glad you found my little corner of the internet.

🕯️ CANDLE MYTH:

“If I can still see wax in the jar, my candle isn't finished.”

Not necessarily. 👀

Every candle reaches a point where it's time to stop burning it—even when there's still a little wax left at the bottom.

Leaving that last bit of wax isn't wasteful.

It's part of burning your candle safely. 💜

Once you're down to roughly ½ inch of wax, it's time to retire the candle rather than trying to squeeze out one last burn.

And if you're anything like me, that usually means it's also time to decide which scent you're lighting NEXT. 😂

🕯️💜 WICKED WEDNESDAY — THE STORY BEHIND THE SCENT

Some fragrances start with an oil I love.

Others start with a very specific feeling I want to recreate.

Cutie Boo started with INSPIRATION of the Cutie Ghost Collection that Disney brought out this year! Its fun and sweet and I wanted to showcase that!

I wanted it to feel friendly, sweet and candy like, so I blended 🩷 Pink Sugar Crystals, 🫐 Black Raspberry Vanilla, 🌙 Harvest Moon until it finally smelled like the idea I had in my head.

And THAT is probably my favorite part of creating Basically Wicked fragrances.

Sometimes I'm not trying to make something that simply “smells good.”

I'm trying to make something that takes you somewhere. ✨

Cutie Boo is one of those for me.

🕯️✨ CANDLE TIP TUESDAY

Want to know one of the easiest ways to help your candle burn better?

Trim. Your. Wick. ✂️

Before each burn, trim your wick to about ¼ inch.

That tiny little step can help:

✨ Keep the flame from getting too large
🖤 Reduce soot
🕯️ Encourage a cleaner, more even burn
💜 Help you get the best experience from your candle

And on the first burn, give your candle enough time for the melted wax to reach close to the edges before blowing it out.

Handmade candles deserve a little TLC too. 😉

Be honest—are you actually trimming your wick before every burn? 😂

🕯️ LABOR DAY — SMALL BUSINESS EDITION

Owning a small business is funny because sometimes a “day off” looks suspiciously like…

checking orders, answering messages, organizing supplies, thinking about the next collection and somehow ending up in the studio “just for a minute.” 😂

But I wouldn't trade the feeling of creating something with my own hands and watching someone choose it for their home.

So today I'm especially grateful for everyone who has ever:

Finished products always look so pretty sitting on the shelf.

This is what happens BEFORE that. 😂

Fragrance oils everywhere. Labels waiting to go on. Vessels lined up. Supplies covering every available surface…

Somewhere in the middle of all of this, an idea turns into something that eventually ends up burning in someone's home. 💜

It's definitely not always Instagram pretty—but this might actually be one of my favorite parts.
