Season 3 of The Weird Walk Home is debuting ✨️right now✨️

Who's in the wheat? 🌾👻

Picture the end of a harvest two hundred years ago. One patch of wheat left, the whole crew in a ring around it, and instead of cutting it they fling their sickles at it, one reaper at a time. Whoever cut her carried her home in ribbons, and the farm that finished last had to keep her the whole winter. Everyone holding a blade knew why. Something lived inside that last sheaf. A wolf, the old reapers said, or a rye aunt whose fingers burned, or Lady Midday herself, out on the boundary at noon in her white dress.

If you crave my psychological insights and personal case notes too.. well, you're in for quite the spell.

That's the walk home tonight, darlings and darklings- the games, the warnings, the neighbors who thresh your corn for free and vanish the moment you pay them, and the glowing eyes people keep meeting in the skirts of their stooks at golden hour. My own small sheaf sits on the mantel beside me, and at the end I leave our liminal friends an offering. They have taste🤫

There is one at every gathering worth attending.

The room arranges itself around him before anyone decides to- chairs angle in, someone stops mid-sentence, the pipe goes up, and for the length of one tale no one looks at a clock.

"What do you want your afterlife to be, and what are you doing about it while you are still breathing?"

That is the vital question Samantha Corfield brings, and she's been offering it professionally for decades. Samantha is a writer, teacher, and spiritual counselor with a degree in Theology and World Religion. Her book "Create Your Own Afterlife: Take Control of Life After Death" came out this year with Llewellyn Publications, and in July she carried this beautiful idea onto Coast to Coast AM with George Noory, including the part that touched my own heart: that the living can design their own afterlife, today.

I'm proud to see a kindred spirit in this matter, as much of the message Artemaeus and I carry is the very same🙏

I asked. She said yes.
Samantha joins the Winter Wonderland edition with a piece on life after life, which strikes me as exactly the right reading for the season the world plays dead and then.. isn't🌱

Of all the States, the vampire picked the sunniest one🙃

My feature in Issue One is called A Vampire in Florida. It contains the most personal science I have ever set to a page. That page sampled here is where it begins. Where it goes: a biochemist who stood up in 1985 and told a room full of scientists that Europe's old vampires were patients all along, the forty-year argument he started, and the part of that argument I have been quietly, painfully embodying the whole time. You'll have to invite us in to read the rest😏

Everything else waits on page 54- folklore, hard medicine, genetic sciences and one Floridian who carries her shade with her.
