For the next few days, we’re turning our attention to the work and remarkable eye of Barbara Hack.

Grounded in realistic portraiture, Barbara’s work reaches beyond likeness—exploring the emotion, story, and fleeting moments that make a figure feel alive.

With extensive training in Europe and New York and a career spanning portraiture, fashion illustration, courtroom art, and fine art, she brings both extraordinary skill and a deeply observant eye to the figure.

There’s something special about seeing someone stop and truly take in the work.

We’re grateful for every person who walks through the doors of Chelsie Nicole Contemporary—and for the community of artists, collectors, supporters, and art lovers that continues to grow far beyond Ozark. Moments like this, spent with the work of Chelsie Nicole Studios, are a beautiful reminder of why the gallery exists: to create a place where art and people can meet.

This October, award-winning artist Barbara Hack joins us at Chelsie Nicole Contemporary for three focused days of portrait and figurative oil painting. Through demonstrations, hands-on painting, and individualized instruction, Barbara will share the techniques and thoughtful approach behind the beautifully rendered work you see here.

There’s so much to learn in the moments spent simply watching.

During our five-day Painting Beyond the Photo workshop, students gathered around as Shana Levenson and David Kassan as they demonstrate their approach, process, techniques, and insight along the way.

Opportunities to learn directly from accomplished artists are at the heart of what we hope to continue bringing to Chelsie Nicole Contemporary.

Five days of learning, experimenting, and seeing differently.

At the heart of what we do is education—creating space for artists to learn from one another, be inspired, and grow alongside leaders in the field.

So much can happen in five days. It was incredibly rewarding to watch each artist leave with new skills, fresh perspective, and more confidence in their work.

Thank you to David, Shana, and every artist who joined us for this meaningful week.

If you’ve been waiting for the right time to invest in your growth as a painter, this is it.

Join internationally recognized artists David Kassan and Shana Levenson for Painting Beyond the Photo, an immersive five-day portrait workshop designed to help artists move beyond simply copying a reference and toward creating paintings with greater depth, understanding, and life.

Throughout the week you’ll experience:
• A personal portrait photoshoot
• Learning how to create stronger reference images
• Live painting demonstrations
• Broken color techniques for painting skin tones
• One-on-one instruction and individual critiques
• Thoughtful artistic discussion in a focused, encouraging environment

All paints and painting mediums are provided. Participants need only bring a primed Artefex panel and their brushes.
