And just like that… the iconic Chit Chat Cafe at Pacifica Pier is gone.

For many of us, this wasn’t just a building by the ocean. It was part of the memories, grabbing a coffee, meeting friends, crabbing and fishing with the family.

Watching it come down was heartbreaking, but seeing the community gather together shows how much this place meant to so many people.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the owners Branden and Genevieve. Thank you for creating a place that became more than just a cafe. It became a gathering spot and a part of the Pacifica Pier family.

Hopefully this is not the end, but the beginning of rebuilding and bringing back a stronger Pacifica Pier for future generations to enjoy.

The Chit Chat Cafe will truly be missed.

We risked dropping our 360 camera down with our live bait smelt to see what really happens underwater… and the ocean showed us something crazy.

Right after the cast, as our lonely bait was dropping down into the green, a halibut came out of nowhere.

It looked like the perfect ambush was about to happen… the halibut lined it up, followed the bait, and we thought we were about to capture the bite on camera…

Then at the last second he changed his mind and disappeared back into the sand. 😭

Moments like this are why we love underwater footage. You never know what’s watching your bait when you’re waiting for that bite.

One of the last striped bass caught at Pacifica Pier before the big crack that led to the closure of a place so many of us call home.

This pier isn’t just concrete over the ocean… it’s where a lot of us caught our first fish, learned from our parents, taught our kids, met lifelong fishing friends, and created memories that will never be replaced.

Seeing these last catches hits a little different knowing the future of the pier is uncertain.

Now this is what you call a San Diego doormat!

Local angler David landed this beautiful 40 INCH halibut and the craziest part… he did it on only 10LB TEST.
That’s a true test of patience, drag control, and trusting your gear.

A fish like this can make one wrong run and it’s game over, but he stayed locked in and brought this giant flatty home.

The San Diego Bay bite has been producing some quality fish.

The moment your reel starts screaming and the drag starts peeling, everything else goes silent.

No music, no distractions, just you and that fish on the other end trying to take you for a ride.

That’s the sound every fisherman waits for. The sound of patience paying off, adrenaline kicking in, and hoping your knots were as good as you thought they were.
The only music to our ears.

This is why we risk putting our 360 cameras underwater.

We captured the insane moment a California halibut launched off the ocean floor and blasted toward the surface chasing a school of baitfish.

Seeing what really happens beneath us completely changes the way we fish. The ocean is alive down there, and sometimes our cameras catch moments most people never get to see.

Pacifica Pier continues to show more damage as the structure appears to be shifting more and more.

What was once a place filled with fishermen, crabbers, families, and lifelong memories is now leaving the community wondering what comes next.

For many of us, this pier wasn’t just concrete over the ocean… it was where we learned to fish, taught our kids, made friends, and created memories that will last forever.
