Planning is important. Preparing is important. Training is important. But if all you ever do is train in your comfort zone, you may only be preparing yourself to perform in your comfort zone.

We can all sit around and imagine how we would handle a bad situation. We can tell ourselves we would stay calm, make the right decisions, and handle business when things get spicy. But imagination isn't a test.Put yourself in realistic scenarios. Add pressure. Add fatigue. Add uncertainty. Make decisions when your heart rate is up and things aren't going according to plan.

That is where you find out what you actually know, what you actually can do, and where the holes in your preparation are. The goal isn't to prove you're tough. The goal is to find your weaknesses before a real situation finds them for you. Plan. Prepare. Train. Then test yourself.

Because when the real moment comes, you don't rise to the occasion. You fall back on the level of preparation you've earned. Never Quit.

I don’t know if it’s because I’m still friends with his wife on here and we’ve kept in touch … or because Jamie’s birthday was last week … or because I just turned 50 last month. But this has been on my mind a lot.

I almost feel selfish even saying that. He lived a whole lifetime of impact. I still see it in the way Tonianne loves him. I only got 20 minutes on the phone with him.

Those 20 minutes have never left me.

Two Marines who never served together … laughing like we had. He was almost out of time and all he wanted was something for his Heavy Guns brothers to hold at that last reunion.

That’s one of the reasons we operate the way we do. That’s why I’m proud to be a Marine.

Brotherhood isn’t a slogan. It’s showing up when the clock is almost out.

Keep Tonianne in your prayers. She still doing the work to honor our brother in every way, and even though I only knew him for 20 minutes, I know how proud he is shining down on her from above 🫶

They’re also in unison when they coordinate and push every narrative designed to keep us divided.
