This is exactly why Spartan Construction & Roofing strips every roof down to the original decking.

During this roof replacement this morning, we discovered the previous roof had never been torn down to the wood deck. Instead, a new synthetic underlayment was installed directly over the existing felt, leaving two layers of underlayment and hiding serious decking issues that couldn’t be seen from the surface. Just six years later, we’re uncovering damaged decking that should have been found and replaced the first time.

At Spartan, we don’t believe in shortcuts. Every roof we install starts with a full tear off so we can thoroughly inspect the decking, replace any compromised wood, and ensure your new roofing system is built on a solid foundation. That’s the difference between simply covering a problem and fixing it the right way. Stay tuned for the new re deck!
