Congrats to our Pine Designs August employee of the month. My wife, and (for tax purposes) the CEO of Pine Designs, Nicole! If you have bought a bar from us, Nicole most likely helped stain it. Nicole wins a home cooked meal tonight, from yours truly! She is pictured here with our son, Nolan, and our dog, Jack.

I was recently able to pick up some locally milled live edge. The plan is to turn it into two bars in the coming weeks. The first one will be a reclaimed barn wood base and the with the dark walnut stained live edge (on left in photo). The other slab (on right in photo) will be turned into a bar with a reclaimed barn tin front and will be for sale at the Lacon, IL fall sweater market on 10/17. This photo shows the before and after. The live edge on the left has been sanded down multiple times, had its imperfections filled, sanded again, and stained. Once the stain is dry I will finish with polyurethane and build the base. It should be for sale in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned.

Alright Jeep people! Just picked up this vintage Willy’s tailgate. I’ll be turning it into a bench in the coming weeks. The plan is to sandblast it,
paint it an original color, and place it into a bench design. Stay tuned!

We have a huge announcement!!! As a lot of you know, Pine Designs was never planned, it just sort of happened. When I was a kid, my dad did a lot of carpentry at home. He built a lot of custom furniture for our home and to sell. Watching him is how I learned and gained my skills. My dad is now retired, bored, and will now be building foldable, mobile bars for Pine Designs. Therefore, we are now offering custom built, fold up mobile bars! These are great for vendors, weddings, or anyone who wants a bar but doesn’t have storage space. You can use it, fold it up, and put it away. You can even fold them up and put them in a car or SUV to transport. My dad will be exclusively building them so there will be a separate waiting list. Right now, we are booked with custom bar builds through Thanksgiving, but there is no waiting list for the foldable, mobile bars! You can call today and get the first spot on that waiting list. He’s currently finishing up the first order, but we’ve included some pictures on this post. I’ll include a video of the bar being broken down and folded up and more pictures once it’s painted and finished. Pricing is based on size, but a typical 5’ fold up bar will cost around $750.
