Photo Shoot & Visibility

How did the photo shoot feel?
Why is visibility uncomfortable but important?
What does showing up anyway look like for us?

About us:

In the Gray Together is a podcast & YouTube series hosted by Christina and Jenn. We center people—primarily women—who live in the gray: the intersection of disability (visible and invisible), entrepreneurship, creativity, caregiving, and life.

This series is about real people, real challenges, real growth. Episodes are lightly edited, honest, and sometimes recorded in front of small, intentional audiences.

Subscribe to watch weekly conversations and connect with a community that understands life in the gray.

We Adopted a Star! Meet ‘That Day.’

At That Day, we believe everyone deserves a light, even in the moments that feel lost. Today, we’ve brought that belief to the sky by adopting a star — named That Day — shining in the Libra constellation.

This star is more than a point of light. It’s a symbol of hope, balance, and healing.

It reminds us all:

Every person has strength.
Every moment of courage matters.
Safe spaces can exist in unexpected places — from the night sky to the roads we travel.

Just like our Adopt-a-Highway project, our mission is about action, not words. We bring safe spaces, light, and possibility where it’s needed most.

Whether it’s a quiet star in the night sky, a sunrise filled with promise, or a peaceful road, we bring light to the journey.

Friends of That Day Dreamers, this one’s for you.

New review + big win for accessibility ♿🧡

I’m officially an Amazon affiliate — and any earnings from my links go back into our nonprofit to support accessibility and future reviews.

I buy and test what I share. These kids’ safety knives help me prep food safely with cognitive + physical disabilities — and that freedom matters.

check-in ☀️

I don’t post every morning — and that’s okay.

I’m human, not perfect. But when I can, I start my day with YouTube or classical music. It helps my brain recognize: we’re safe, we’re waking up, it’s time to move into our routine. When I skip it, I feel off-kilter — because habits matter.

This morning I was listening to Simon Sinek, who I’ve followed for years. His leadership talks always ground me.

Today he shared a story about a Styrofoam cup — and how leadership was never meant for the shiny things, the perks, the titles, or business class seats. Those things belong to the position, not the person.

I’ve lived on both sides of that.

As a soldier, a veteran, someone with a title — I’ve been given doors held open, free coffee, special treatment. I’ve also felt what it’s like when the uniform comes off and the title fades.

What stays is who you are when no one owes you anything.

Leadership, to me, is building a foundation — not a pedestal. It’s showing up imperfectly. Asking for help. Bringing people along instead of stepping on them. If you’re in my circle, your success is my success.

As I train for this half marathon, I’m also navigating pain flares and limited hand use, which means posting consistently isn’t always realistic.

I’ve still been moving:

• Outside running twice
• Gym once
• New yoga mat, hand massager, and tools to keep going

Consistency with new habits takes time. And I’m giving myself the kindness to remember: I don’t owe the world perfection.

I owe myself honesty and sustainability.

This is me checking in — not polished, just present. 🤍

Grateful for the people and places that help hold me up on this journey 🤍

A little life update 🤍

If I’ve been quiet or slow to respond lately, it’s not because I disappeared. My hands have been in excruciating pain, and some days even the wind touching them hurts.

Talk-to-text helps. Using my knuckles helps. Tools like this hand massager help. But it’s still a lot.

Winter is hard on my body, but so is heat and humidity, so I plan my life intentionally. Half of December, all of January, and all of February are my self-preservation months.

That’s how I keep showing up — as a business owner, a disabled veteran, and someone building a nonprofit.

I choose transparency because I don’t want assumptions. Looking like I’m “handling it” doesn’t mean it’s easy. It means I’ve spent years learning how to adapt. What looks seamless often takes me six times the effort.

This is me showing up honestly — exactly as I am.

💬 if you live with chronic pain, disability, or invisible limitations — drop a 🤍 or share one thing that helps you get through hard seasons. If this resonated, let me know in the comments.

You’re not alone here.

A Dream in the Making: Supporting Jennifer Pelosi, an Autistic Artist

I’m excited to share a project that is very close to our hearts.

Jenn is an autistic artist who has been creating for many years. Over 10 years ago, she began working on a picture book featuring her art—a project full of imagination, heart, and meaning. Now, we’re helping her bring that dream to life, refining the story, adding context, and sharing her unique vision with the world.

Our goal is bigger than just a book. Jen hopes to share her art in children’s products, sensory items, and creative spaces—and eventually in places like TJ Maxx HomeGoods Marshalls , Homesense.

These are spaces where she’s feels welcomed, seen, and supported as an AUTISTIC EMPLOYEE., and it would mean so much for her art to be part of that community.

We want to connect with anyone willing to offer guidance, mentorship, or connections—from publishing to retail, social media, or product development. Even a small conversation, advice, or a referral could make a huge difference in helping Jenn’s vision reach the public.

This is a call to our community: let’s help bring this heart-centered, inclusive art to life. Together, we can create something meaningful, joyful, and accessible for children and families everywhere.

If you can help, or know someone who can, please reach out. Your support—big or small—means the world.

Please feel free to email me to set up a zoom meeting.
