Fiddlehead Toys are all natural, rustic wooden toys. They are hand crafted in Philadelphia from locally collected, reclaimed hardwood that I salvage from my work in ecological landscape design and construction. I strive to create durable, heirloom quality toys, capable of being handed down to the next generation of imaginative kids. I craft the toys in a manner reminiscent of traditional tool con

struction, slowly and methodically building each piece, which I feel gives them far more character and longevity. The toys are for sale natural (without a finish) or finished with a natural shellac or a food grade mineral oil/beeswax combination. Find our online shop on Etsy at www.FiddleheadToys.Etsy.com . Have you got an idea for a tool or toy we don't currently offer? Message me about a commissioned piece and we'll see if we can make it happen :)

Thanks for your time and business. Hope to hear from you soon!

So I'm curious if any of my fellow carvers out there experience anything similar to this. Nearly every time I go out to my stump in the yard and start knocking out spoon blanks with the axe I'm visited by a little Downy Woodpecker. He starts tapping away at the dead standing sassafras just 10' from me, as if the sound attracted him. Any similar stories?

Backyard bushcrafting essentials. One of the beautiful things about wooden toys is if you care for them, they can last for generations. At the end of their life time, you can set them out in the woods and let them disappear.
