For Sale​"Acquired in historic Arequipa, Peru, this remarkable 10" \times 12" oil-on-parchment fragment directly connects to the golden dawn of South American Viceregal art: the circle of Bernardo Bitti (1548–1610).
​Bitti, an Italian Jesuit master sent to Peru in 1575, single-handedly introduced Late Italian Mannerism to the Andes—forever shaping South American art history. During his travels across Peru, Bitti created monumental altarpieces and devotional works, heavily influencing local workshops in Arequipa and Cuzco.
​Executed on thick parchment—a medium used for portable monastic scrolls, illuminated banners, and processional art—this piece depicts Saint Ursula, one of the most revered virgin martyrs in 16th-century counter-reformation iconography.
