So sad that we will not be seeing out amazing Collingswood customers, but come and see me in Bryn Mawr in a few weeks.
Dear Clover Market Friends,
After carefully monitoring all available forecasts and consulting directly with the National Weather Service this morning, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tomorrow's 4/26 Market in Collingswood. Given our multi event schedule and production lead times (plus vendor calendars that book out months in advance), we do not have rain dates.
The National Weather Service has advised us of wind gusts of 25 mph all day (with up 35 mph until noon), combined with wind chills in the mid-to-upper 30s and persistent rain chances throughout the morning.
We have to consider the whole picture of the day when making a go/no call, not just the operating hours that impact customers. Vendors and my team are setting up for hours before the opening bell in a big open space. This is never an easy call, and of course forecasts can change. But we've made the best and safest call that we can based on the information we have (considering wind + rain + temps) as of the decision point.
As a rain or shine market -- with cancellations considered for severe or dangerous weather -- we do not make this call lightly. There are months of planning and investment leading up the event. Our vendors are tough and always prepared, and anyone who knows us knows that we've been out in all kinds of conditions.
But the combination of very strong wind gusts during vendor setup (and persistent wind gusts all day), near-freezing wind chills, and persistent rain goes beyond what we can reasonably ask of our vendors especially during the setup timeframe.
We hope to see you at one of our other spring markets or at next fall's Collingswood Market on September 20th.
We thank you for your continued support and understanding.
