Hi! I thought it was probably time to introduce myself to anyone who is new here. ❤️

I’m Katie, the person behind For the Love of Slate & Timber.

I’m a mom to three, Grammy to three, dog lover (you may see Sadie Jo on here from time to time), book lover, and a three-year breast cancer survivor. That last one is also why you may occasionally see me pop up with a reminder to get your mammogram. I promise I won’t preach about it all the time, but it’s something I’ll probably never stop encouraging women to do.

I started this little business because I love making things—sometimes pretty, sometimes fun, sometimes a little sarcastic. I especially love creating pieces that preserve a memory or mean something to the person receiving them.

I love wood, I love watching an idea turn into something real, and yes… I genuinely love the smell of my laser cutting through wood. 😂

You’ll find a little bit of everything here, but lately I’ve been especially drawn to bookish things and meaningful keepsakes—the kinds of things that make you smile when you see them or remind you of someone you love.
