Talk about a test mule. This gun has had so many parts run through it that the only things original are the forward assist and the magazine release. It’s seen half a dozen optics and twice as many paint jobs, but this is the first new barrel it’s seen. Hopefully the Rainier Arms Ultramatch Mod2 prints at least as well as the factory barrel, but those are big shoes to fill.

If this shotgun could talk…..22 years, hundreds (thousands?) of miles chasing pheasants, days in the duck blind so cold it had to stay underwater so it wouldn’t freeze shut. It’s been a boat paddle, a club, an anchor. I’ve shot trap with it, I’ve shot geese with it. It’s been an absolute workhorse and put a lot of meat in my freezer. I stopped counting a long time ago, but it’s got to be closing in on 100,000 rounds. Every other year it got a new coat of spray paint on the barrel because the finish was so hashed. It was time for a freshen up. Rob Roberts Custom Gun Works dipped the furniture, provided the choke tubes, and bolt handle, new springs from Wolff and Surecycle, and a coat of Cobalt Kinetics Green from Cerakote should have it ready for the next 20 years of adventures.
