As they say, no farms, no food (or flowers). Here's an opportunity for my Massachusetts customers, friends and neighbors to take action to support legislation that supports farms and farmers. We invite farmers and folks who care about farms to take 5 minutes to call or email the MA State House leadership and your own representative requesting that they bring H.4854, An Act Fostering Agricultural Resilience in Massachusetts, also known as the FARM omnibus bill, to the House floor for a vote before the July 31st cutoff!

This collection of legislation will increase economic development, support public health via increased food security, and further our state’s climate resilience.

I'm "popping up" as a co-host of the Plainfield Community Coffeehouse on Saturday July 18 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m with a free sunflower seed giveaway! Come visit!

Stop by 356 West Main Street (the Plainfield Church) for coffee, camaraderie and take home some pollinator friendly sunflower seeds.

I'm sharing 4,000 "sunflowers to be" in small 50-seed packets. There is a selection of 10 varieties of fancy sunflowers that are quick growing (50-55 days to maturity). Excellent for cut flowers because they don't shed pollen on your tablecloth or clothing. Fabulous for pollinators because they produce nectar that is an important food source for bees. One variety is perfect for porch pots as it grown just 1-2 feet tall. Plant this weekend and you'll have blooms in early September.

I'll also have a selection of fresh cut flower bouquets for sale. Hope to see you on Saturday July 18.
