After years of testing every tool we could get our hands on, this is the kit we use in the studio.

Lia is making Crepe Paper Silver Dollar Eucalyptus, a branch of round, coin-shaped leaves built on soft wire so it drapes like a fresh stem. It’s a perfect beginner project. The leaves repeat one simple shape, and it’s satisfying to watch them stack down the stem.
No supplies or experience needed. Pull up a chair and watch. You’ll be surprised how much you pick up just from seeing Lia shape each leaf.

Crepe paper is so much more than birthday streamers.
Lesson 2 of 20 in our free Crepe Paper Flower Foundation Series: What Is Crepe Paper? The secret is the grain. It stretches in one direction and resists in the other. Once you understand it, it becomes your partner in every flower you make.
I walk you through the three crepe papers we use most. Extra fine for airy, tissue-thin petals. Double-sided for two colors in one sheet. Heavy crepe, with 250% stretch, is very forgiving and a wonderful place for beginners to start.

There is something magical about crepe paper. It stretches, it shapes, and it holds a curve like a real petal. Even as a beginner, you can create flowers that look like you picked them from the garden.
This is Lesson 1 of our new free Crepe Paper Flower Foundation Series. In today’s Friday workshop, we will be making this Crepe Paper Buckeye Belle Peony! Because this is an advanced project, plan to take your time with the shaping. A gentle, steady stretch gives smoother curves than one quick pull, and that’s especially true with darker papers, where every crease shows.
