Come sit with the Maison for an afternoon inside the strange and beautiful history of Tarot.
The Visual History of Tarot is a guided walk through the cards, from hand-painted Renaissance decks made for Italian nobility to the Rider-Waite-Smith imagery you know today. We will talk about the artists, the symbolism, and the arcane threads that connect five hundred years of these little painted mysteries. This is art history with its shoes off, warm and curious, no dusty lecture energy.
Every seat comes with your own Color Your Own Tarot Deck and matching guidebook, yours to fill in however feels right. You will also get printed handouts covering every deck, artist, and era we cover, so you leave with more than memories. And yes, there is a goodie bag with your name on it, packed with small trinkets and offerings gathered by the Maison's crows.
A little about your guide. I am an art historian, and this is the lens I bring to the whole afternoon. Tarot sits at a fascinating crossroads of painting, printmaking, symbolism, and belief, and I love pulling those threads apart so you can see how the cards were made, who made them, and what the imagery was actually doing. You do not need any background in art or Tarot to come. Curiosity is the only prerequisite. :)
Here is the part I love most (I love giveaways). At the close of our discussion, one name gets drawn from the room. That person walks away with a Grimoire of the Unknown. One room, one name, one lucky soul.
