No matter what songs fill your Mother’s Day celebrations, we hope that the women in your life will feel your love and understanding. And to all you women, thank you for all you do in whatever capacity you find yourself. God has purpose and meaning for you. We hope you feel it.
Here are three approaches to selecting Mother's Day music:
Traditional approach- the song is specifically highlighting mothers and their role, or expressing love and gratitude to mothers.
Semi-traditional - music is about love, home or teaching children.
Non-traditional - options expand into other gospel virtues exemplified by women, messages of encouragement or sharing specific scriptural examples of righteous women.

Traditional approach:
“Mothers Are Like the Savior” by Izabela Geambașu
Honor the mothers by singing “powerful message about love, sacrifice, and the divine role of mothers.” Can be sung by soloist or children/youth ensemble.
Traditional / semi-traditional
“Traces” by Kristen Bodine Scott
Written in honor of a mother, this song expresses “steady, Christlike love of anyone and everyone that you’ve held dear throughout your life.” Written for a soloist, it could also be sung by a unison group.

The song is sung by children and youth to express the value and role of parents teaching their children about Jesus. It is a new take on the message of Teach Me to Walk in the Light.

This song is a beautiful tribute to the Savior’s earthly and heavenly mothers and their magnificent love. It fits into a general theme of mothers and could be used in a program that weaves together examples of how a mother’s love and sacrifice is truly incredible.

This song explores a mother’s love from the perspective of Jesus’ mother Mary, but also the emotions Mary may have felt knowing she was raising the Savior of the World. This would also fit into a general theme of mothers and their sacrifice.

This song is one of those with a general encouraging Christian message. It tells us to pause and recognize the blessings that abound in our beautiful life.
