🏺 FEATURED THIS WEEK: Coins of Ancient Chach 🏺

Before the city of Tashkent became the capital of modern Uzbekistan, it was the heart of an ancient kingdom known as Chach. Located along the Silk Road, Chach prospered as a crossroads where merchants, travelers, and cultures from China, Persia, India, and the Mediterranean world met and traded.

The coins of Chach, struck between the 3th and 8th centuries AD, are among the most distinctive of Central Asia. Many feature stylized portraits of local rulers on one side and tamghas (tribal or dynastic symbols) on the other. These fascinating pieces provide a glimpse into a time when independent city-states flourished along the great trade routes of Eurasia.

The examples shown here are nearly 1,300–1,500 years old and circulated during a period of remarkable cultural exchange and economic activity. Holding one is holding a small piece of Silk Road history.

🌍 Available now from Racine Coin.

Come snag one for your collection this weekend 🙂

🇩🇪 New Arrival This Weekend: German Notgeld (Emergency Money) – A Fascinating Piece of History! 🇩🇪

This weekend I’ll be adding a collection of authentic German Notgeld (“emergency money”) to our shops.

Following World War I, Germany faced severe coin shortages. Cities, towns, districts, and even private businesses began issuing their own temporary money known as Notgeld to keep local commerce moving. These emergency coins and tokens circulated throughout Germany from roughly 1916–1923 during a period of economic hardship and political uncertainty.

The pieces shown here come from communities such as Koblenz, Darmstadt, Bonn, Trier, Cassel, Solingen, Wiesbaden, Hersfeld, and others. Many feature local coats of arms, historic buildings, famous citizens, and regional artwork, making each piece a miniature snapshot of German history.

What makes Notgeld especially interesting is that no two towns did things exactly the same way. Some issues were struck in iron, zinc, aluminum, or bronze, while others were made from porcelain, leather, or even paper. During Germany’s hyperinflation years, thousands of different designs were produced, creating one of the most diverse and collectible series in world numismatics.

These coins are over 100 years old and offer an affordable way to own a genuine artifact from one of the most dramatic periods in modern European history.

If you enjoy world coins, local history, or unusual collectibles, stop by and take a look. Every piece tells a story.

📍 Available this weekend at Racine Coin’s antique mall locations.
