Rumor has it there could be frost tonight, so you can bet I chose flowers over lunch. I carved out time I don’t have to step away from the high-pressure chaos of major event production to grab this big ol’ bunch while there was still daylight. Come on, babies... HANG TOUGH tonight! I don’t have time to cover you and it’s not time to give up yet!

week two of fairy house school... carved little flower windows, a door scalloped enough for a very specific fairy with very specific taste, and a roof that’s basically a hat at this point.

i am UNWELL over the little details i can create out of a hunk of clay. Can’t wait to get her glaze on!

rainy days and sundays, apparently.

i was supposed to drive up to vt today to see one of my besties who flew all the way in from australia, and as much as i’ve been looking forward to this day for weeks, a round trip in pouring rain all day just wasn’t the smart call. hopefully only a few days’ delay. still bummed.

you know what fixes me every time? flowers.

so thank goodness she’s finally here. day two of the farmstand and she’s already earning her keep... the babies are tucked inside today, safe from the weather and ready to grab and go, in case somebody else needs a lift heading into the week.

if you drive by and the buckets out front look empty, don’t despair. everything’s inside waiting for you.
hope your day is cozy with a few bright spots sprinkled in. next stop: homemade tom kha soup, made with fresh lemongrass i traded flowers for. best kind of currency there is. 💐

Found this one by accident, golden hour, goldenrod, and all!

Peckham Hollow, 1799. Peleg Peckham’s tavern here was once an early political gathering spot, town meetings and all. by the 1820s this little hollow had grown into its own hamlet, a dozen houses, a couple of stores, blacksmith shops, even a tannery. now it’s just this house, this sky, and me stumbling onto it on a random drive.

i love the deep history that runs through the veins of the Hudson Valley. i can only imagine what those walls have seen.

Remember my cute new farmstand sign I just created last week? So much for that! While I’m so glad the driver is OK, he took down my sign, a portion of my fence and part of the sunflower field, some peony plants. I’m all set with this week! I surrender!!
