Between my full time chauffeur gig (kids), running out store, and trying to squeeze in a little summer fun I managed to finish my first flower subscription. Drought conditions, a torn meniscus, and one deer that broke the long standing treaty I have with my neighbor deer slowed me down a bit, but I DID IT! I didn’t take enough photos, but here’s a shot of the flowers I did for a bridal shower. Thank you to all the subscribers for all your support!

Here’s some tips to keep your beautiful flowers fresh for up to two weeks..or even longer. Change your water every day. Dump old water out and give your vase a good rinse. If your vase gets a film in it, a cotton pad and some alcohol will clean it out.

Cut your bouquet stems on a diagonal about 1/4” to 1/2” before you put it back into the vase of clean water. I suggest investing in a pair of Felcos (photo in comments) for a clean cut. Pull off any old leaf matter and dead flowers. Bacteria from old leaf matter in the water can shorten the life of your bouquet. I add a half packet of flower food every time I change the water that I buy on EBay (photo in comments) and stir it well. Doing these few things can make a huge difference.

As many of you know Dahlias are my jam... I grow over 100 different varieties. There are so many different sizes, shapes, and colors. When they’re in full you could ask me which one was my favorite and you’d probably get a different answer every day of the week
