A few shots from our GYEON training last week.
Good people, good conversations, and a lot of time actually working through the process instead of just talking about it.

Thanks again to everyone who came out.

In this video we compare the Scangrip Matchpen R against the Next LED detailing pen light and look at the features that actually matter when you are using one around the shop.

Both lights are compact metal pen lights, but the differences start adding up quickly. The Next LED adds a magnetic clip for hands free use, an additional 430 lumen light, USB C charging, and a manufacturer stated runtime of up to eight hours on the 100 lumen spotlight. The Scangrip spotlight is listed at about 2.5 hours of runtime.

The Scangrip does have some advantages, including its telescoping beam and adjustable color temperature, which can be useful when inspecting different paint colors. The Next LED also includes a UV mode designed around ceramic coating inspection.

Then there is the price. In the comparison, the Next LED comes in at $39.99 while the Scangrip is $69.99. Jason's pick on this one is the Next LED.

Which one would you keep in your pocket?

Scangrip or Next LED, which handheld detailing light actually gives you more for your money?

Ultimate Professional Rechargeable Color Match Light - https://www.carsupplieswarehouse.com/...

Professional Color Matching Light - CRI 96+ & 3 Temperature - https://www.carsupplieswarehouse.com/...

In this comparison, Jason puts the handheld lights side by side and looks at the features that actually matter when you are inspecting paint and working through a correction.

Both options offer magnetic bases, adjustable positioning, multiple color temperatures, top lights, hooks for hands free use, similar battery performance, and a maximum output of 500 lumens on the comparable top models.

Scangrip does have an advantage when it comes to the feel of the light. Jason prefers the softer rubber exterior and believes it may hold up better if you are constantly dropping your tools.

But then there is the price.

The Scangrip model discussed in the video comes in at $199, while the Next LED Ultimate Professional is $99. Jason also compares the lower tier options, where Next LED comes in at $59.95 compared with $98 for the Scangrip alternative.

So which one would you put in your detailing setup?
