One donation filled my entire storage unit.

Oak armoires, solid wood bookcases, boxes of vinyl records. A lifetime of quality furniture from one estate.

The woman who gave it to us said: "I dump so much stuff. I hate it, but I never know what else to do."

I'm standing there looking at a full storage unit and thinking about everyone else sitting on stuff they don't want to throw away. Donation bins are overflowing. Goodwill cherry-picks. Junk haulers truck it straight to the landfill.

So I'm building the place that says yes. Arms open. I'll take it, I'll find it a home.

One relationship, one storage unit full. More coming. This might turn into ongoing partnerships, regular pickups.

One is a real estate problem.
One is a waste problem.

Put them together and you have a solution.

Massive square footage. Loading docks. Parking. HVAC. A location chosen for accessibility. A brand identity the community already knows.

Malls weren't built to be warehouses or apartment buildings.

They were built to be community hubs.

Maybe they still can be.

Where does it go?

80% to landfills.

The rest gets incinerated or, occasionally, recycled. A tiny fraction gets donated—but even thrift stores can't handle the volume. Goodwill and Salvation Army reject an estimated 50% of what people try to donate.

The system is broken.

But broken systems can be fixed.

The answer, for most Americans, is: nowhere.

The infrastructure for reuse doesn't exist at scale. We have scattered thrift stores, sporadic repair cafes, and the chaos of Facebook Marketplace.

We don't have a system.
