Dear EVERYONE,
This Wednesday, the City of St. Paul plans to demolish a community that has been a lifeline for many over the past several years! This encampment is called the Fish Hatchery and is located at Pigs Eye Park in East Saint Paul.
Destroying people’s homes/community is some deplorable s**t! Sweeps kill people! 40 cots at a community center is simply not a viable solution for an encampment with nearly 400 residents!
Now more than ever, we need RESISTANCE through rapid response and mutual aid for the encampments! Everyone needs to show up this week! Everyone needs to donate money to mutual aid efforts like Rising Waters Mutual Aid who are facilitating bringing 200+ tents, cots and other emergency supplies to folks who will ultimately have their homes and belongings destroyed with nowhere to go when the City shows up. We don’t know what time the city will show up but we know it’s gonna be on August 5.
Here are some things that are of immediate need:
✅ Clean underwear and socks
✅ Narcan
✅ Hot food for Wednesday at 5am
✅ Foot wear
✅ Coolers
✅ Popsicles
✅ Freeze pops
✅ Frozen water
✅ 5 gallon buckets
✅ Bags of all kinds
✅ Ziploc bags
✅ Prepaid phones
✅ Tents
✅ Cots
✅ camping gear
if you can’t physically show up to help, please consider donating funds directly to Rising Waters and/or The Free Bodega! We plan to go to Costco right after the City Hall meeting tomorrow!
Please show up to city hall tomorrow at 11am to rally and at Noon to pack the room for the meeting! 200 people showed up last time and many people in the room had two minutes to tell their stories, many of them who are residents at the Fish Hatchery! There were also a ton of experts in almost every applicable field regarding the housing crisis giving their testimonies in front of the Saint Paul city Council with the Mayor absent from this meeting…
We plan to bring coffee on Wednesday morning to Pig’s Eye along with other mutual aid supplies! We also plan to help Rising Waters transport tents, cots, etc.
We know that many of you can show up in so many different ways this week so the question is, will you?
